Access All Areas, through its training and consultancy programme, has supported Hollyoaks to cast young actor Talia Grant as one of the first female actress' with autism in a mainstream role on British television.
Making her debut in June, Talia hopes her role will “represent something that people may be unaware of”. She will play Brooke Hathaway, the new foster daughter of the Osbornes, in the Channel 4 drama.
“I am so excited to be joining Hollyoaks", said Talia. "I have met some of the cast and being on set was fun and everyone was super-nice and made me feel welcome."
“For a long while there has been no representation on screen of autistic women especially autistic women of colour.”
Talia worked with the Hollyoaks team to write her character's personality, ensuring it was authentic.
Access All Areas supported the audition, casting and production processes, as well as providing training and consultancy to all departments of the show.
Check out this video of below of Talia with her Mum (Academy star Carrie Grant) on Lorraine, discussing her condition during Autism Awareness Week.
