Access All Areas is a small charity and we really appreciate the support of our volunteers.

Volunteering with us is fun and rewarding. It can help progress your career or training. We have a range of exciting and varied projects for enabling you to get really involved with our work and to meet lots of interesting people.

Volunteers with Access All Areas receive:

  • full training

  • DBS certification

  • travel expenses*

  • invitations to events, performances and more

    *travel expenses are generally limited to £5 per day and are available on certain projects - please ask for details.

Hackney Carnival creative volunteer

This is an incredible opportunity to create a large-scale carnival performance with our summer participants. You will work with us across four days of devising, followed by a performance to 4,000 people - our biggest production of the year.

There are a variety of roles available including theatre tech, taking pictures, enabling creative access, assisting with props, costume, music, devising, ushering or administration.

Ideally you will be able to commit to all dates and workshops.

Workshops: 27th – 30th August, 11am – 4pm each day at Chats Palace

Rehearsal: 7th September, 11am – 4pm

Performance: 8th September, 11am – 4pm

We will have a meeting at 10am each day to talk through the plan and finish around 4.30pm.

Our carnival partners, Hackney Shed are also looking for volunteers.

Admin and theatre workshop volunteer (Spring Back programme)

Access All Areas are looking for a BA/ MA student, or someone interested in community arts, who would like the opportunity to gain experience in an office and creative workshop setting.

The position involves sourcing information from Learning Disabled participants and creating individual person-centred wellbeing passports to document their journey on the project. 

In addition volunteers act as creative practitioners in the space, supporting participants in their communication and creative work.

2 half-days a week:
Thursdays 10.30am – 1.30pm in workshops during Term time.
Half day (flexible) in the office depending on availability.

Term time: 18th April – 4th July (Half term: 23rd and 30th May)

We accept applications throughout the year but it is best to apply before term starts on 19 September.

Theatre workshop volunteers (Take Part and Train programme)

We run a variety of workshops as part of our Take Part and Train programme. These workshops are created for adults learning disabilities and autism.

As a drama workshop volunteer you will work as a creative practitioner, enabling participants to maximise their enjoyment and learning in the workshops. 

All volunteers will have an introductory meeting and training and will receive £5 travel expenses.

We recruit volunteers on a rolling basis throughout the year for workshops that take place during Term time. There is no closing date on applications.

All workshops begin and end half an hour before the stated times to allow for a planning and an evaluation session. Exact locations of workshops will be confirmed to volunteers before attending.

All volunteers will have an introductory meeting and training and will receive £5 of travel expenses.

Treasurer (Board)

We are recruiting for an individual with financial experience to join ou Board of Trustees as Treasurer. This role will see you work with the charity’s Chairperson and board, and with the Executive Director, to oversee the financial functions of a well-known disability arts charity.
